10th Anniversary of the BP Oil Spill

Deepwater Horizon Explosion on April 20, 2010

Throughout April, the LDMA is commemorating the 10th anniversary of the BP Oil Spill, the worst oil spill in the history of the United States.  On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded forty-one miles off the Louisiana coast, killing eleven workers and discharging 4.9 billion barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico over the next three months.  Watch LPB’s comprehensive coverage of the disaster and its long-term impact on the environment, the seafood industry, and the oil and gas industries.
