Description
This documentary by producer Bill Rodman from January 29, 2003, focuses on the natural and cultural changes in the Atchafalaya Swamp in south Louisiana. It chronicles photographer C.C. Lockwood’s return to the Atchafalaya Swamp decades after his photographs introduced the world to this remote region. It also highlights the history of Bayou Chene, the former settlement in the Atchafalaya Swamp, including its decline following the Great Flood of 1927. It includes interviews with: C.C. Lockwood, nature photographer; Calvin Voisin, former resident; Ben Maygarden, historian; Dr. Carl Brasseaux, history professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Ruel Seneca, Bayou Chene native; Greg Guirard, author and photographer; Hazel Ashley Theriot, Bayou Chene native; and Ivor Van Heerden, Louisiana State University (LSU).
