Description

In this episode of the series “Enviro-Tacklebox” from November 1, 2000, host Greg Grandy explores trash and recycling. He first visits the Art Car Parade in Houston, Texas, where cars are decorated with found objects. He also interviews: Dr. Bill Rathje, a garbologist at the University of Arizona in Tucson, who discusses landfills; Larry Graff, Doug Greenfield, and Mark Nolan of the Banana Slug String Band, who discuss recycling; George Way, a civil engineer, and Mark Wingfield, a recycling plant manager, in Phoenix, who discuss Arizona’s tire recycling program; and Andy Simon, a home renovator, who discusses how he uses recycled objects in his projects. The student reporters also create a composting pile and reduce their source waste during a shopping trip.
