Description
This segment from the January 14, 1982, episode of the series “Folks” features Sharon Elizabeth Sexton’s visit to Angola, the Louisiana State Penitentiary in West Feliciana Parish. She interviews inmates Billy Sinclair and Wilbert Rideau, the editors of “The Angolite,” the prison’s award-winning bi-monthly newsmagazine. They discuss their goal of presenting a realistic view of prison, the stories they cannot print, prison culture, and the different value system of the younger inmates. Sexton also interviews Angola Warden Ross Maggio and Assistant Warden Peggie Gresham.
