Description

This episode of the series “Folks” from April 15, 1984, focuses on educational programs for children. Rob Hinton first reports on the Gifted and Talented program in the Lafayette Parish Public Schools. He interviews Jan Norris, the program coordinator. Genevieve Stewart then reports on the YMCA’s Latchkey Child Development program. She interviews Nancy Etheridge, the director of the program at the Pennington YMCA in Baton Rouge. The last segment features a rebroadcast of Rob Hinton’s tour and remembrance of the free people of color buried in the above ground tombs at St. Louis Cemetery No. 2 in New Orleans.
