This episode of the series “En Francais” from January 24, 1982, features James Fontenot’s interview with Clarence Guidry and Margaret Guidry, a French-speaking African American family from Louisiana. Fontenot also interviews Dr. Margaret Marshall, a French professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, and Dr. Hosea Phillips, a French professor at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette. They discuss the differences between standard French and the Cajun French dialect. This episode was preserved through a 2018 CLIR Recordings at Risk Grant.
