Description

This episode of the series “En Francais” from February 19, 1984, features the third part of Amanda LaFleur’s profile of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. First, she interviews Eunice Mayor Curtis Joubert, who discusses the history of the city. Next, she visits Nick’s Bar in Eunice as the patrons gather together to play dominoes. LaFleur then visits the historic Arlington House in Washington, Louisiana, and interviews the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Olivier. Lastly, she visits the Steamboat Warehouse in Washington. She interviews Jack Womack, the owner, and Dallas Leger, the chief of police, who discuss the history of the building, the restoration, and the building’s new life as a restaurant. This episode was preserved through a 2018 CLIR Recordings at Risk Grant.
