This episode of the series “En Francais” from March 4, 1984, features James Fontenot’s interview with Richard Guidry and Lois Petitjean of Le Theatre Cadien, a local theater group in Lafayette, Louisiana, that produces and performs original plays in the Cajun French dialect. They discuss their current play and upcoming tour. Fontenot then interviews Kay Martin of the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism and Anne Harmon of the Houma-Terrebonne Tourist Commission. They discuss the expected impact of the 1984 World’s Fair in New Orleans on tourism around the state. This episode was preserved through a 2018 CLIR Recordings at Risk Grant.
