This episode of the series “En Francais” from November 11, 1984, features James Fontenot’s interview with Therese Poulain Bienvenue, a resident of St. Martinville, Louisiana. Bienvenue, a French native, shares her memories of living under the German occupation of France during World War II. Fontenot then interviews Louis Picard of Lafayette and Earlin Miller. They discuss their trip to Normandy, France, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of D-Day. Picard, a World War II veteran who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, also shares his memories of the war, including his time in France. This episode was preserved through a 2018 CLIR Recordings at Risk Grant.
