This episode of the series “En Francais” from November 9, 1986, features James Fontenot’s interview with Elma Ducote, who discusses her experience of teaching the French language to senior citizens at the Council on Aging’s Fairfield Senior Center in Baton Rouge. It also includes interviews with several of the students in Ducote’s class, including Rena Neck, Alton Brown, Bertha Amar, Terrace Verbois, Cornelius Brown, Mabel Madison, and Tom Hawkins. This episode also features an interview with Brigitte Hernandez, the teacher at a French language preschool in Louisiana called “Le Jardin d’Enfants.” It also includes interviews with parents Cyndi Bernard and Becky Johnson, who discuss why they chose to send their children to a French language preschool.
