This segment from the October 30, 1988, episode of the series “En Francais” features the second part of Cajun fiddler Michael Doucet’s interview with Creole fiddler Canray Fontenot from his home in Welsh, Louisiana. Fontenot discusses: his childhood; his decision to play the fiddle; his uncle, fiddler Joel Victorien; playing folk music festivals in West Virginia; string band music; his friend, Bois Sec Ardoin; and the resurgence of French and folk music. He also performs “Sur La Table” and “Mallet” with accompaniment by Doucet on the guitar.
