This episode of the series “En Francais” from December 17, 1989, features highlights from the 275th anniversary celebrations in Natchitoches, the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase. It includes: the Christmas lights and water parade from the Natchitoches Christmas Festival; tours of four historic homes, including the Chaplin House, the Laureate House, and the Prudhomme-Roquier House; and a demonstration of bousillage construction. It also includes interviews with the following individuals: Jacques Langlois, the mayor of Beauport, Canada; Didier Destreman, the Consul General of France in New Orleans; Dr. Mildred Bailey; Martha Wynn; Sara Luster, the president of the Service League of Natchitoches; and Carol Wells.
