Host Marie-Jo Therio speaks with Merline Courteaux, the granddaughter of the last Houma Indian tribal chief, Rosaline Courteaux. She talks about her experience as a Native American in South Louisiana, the importance of the French language to Houma Indian culture, her experience as a French speaker in English speaking schools, and her grandmother's use of herbal medicines. This program was preserved through a 2022-2023 Public Broadcasting Preservation Fellowship.
