Description
This “Louisiana Treasures” segment from the October 21, 2016, episode of the series “Art Rocks!” focuses on the Epps House on the campus of LSU-Alexandria. It includes an interview with Michelle Riggs, the archivist at LSU-Alexandria, who explains slave Solomon Northup’s involvement with the building of Epps House and its role in his publication of “12 Years a Slave.” This segment also includes an interview with Dr. Jerry Sanson, a history professor at LSU-Alexandria, who discusses why he teaches “12 Years a Slave” in his Louisiana history courses.
