Description
This “Louisiana Book Talk” from the Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge on October 28, 2006, features an array of Louisiana authors discussing their writings. In the first segment, Anne Dobie, contributing author of “Wide Awake in the Pelican State: Stories by Contemporary Louisiana Writers” moderates a panel between: James Wilcox, author of “Heavenly Days”; Tim Gautreaux, author of “The Clearing”; and Moira Crone, author of “What Gets Into Us”. They discuss their personal writing strategies, the evolution of their writing styles, and their writings. In the second segment, Kimberly Willis Holt reads an excerpt from her novel “Part of Me: Stories of a Louisiana Family.” In the third segment, Jason Berry reads an excerpt from his novel “Last of the Red Hot Poppas.” In the final segment, Margaret Sartor reads an excerpt from her novel “Miss American Pie: A Diary of Love, Secrets, and Growing Up in the 70s”. This program was preserved through a 2022-2023 Public Broadcasting Preservation Fellowship.
