Description
This “Louisiana Book Talk” from the Louisiana Book Festival in Baton Rouge on November 3, 2007, features Yusef Komunyakaa, the recipient of the 2007 Louisiana Writers Award. In the first segment, Komunyakaa reads three of his award-winning poems all based on his time in the United States Military serving in the Vietnam War. The final segment features Komunyakaa and Chad Garcia, co-authors of “Gilgamesh: A Verse Play.” They discuss their writing process and how they utilized many historical texts to tell the story of Gilgamesh. This conversation is moderated by John Pizer, LSU Professor of Literature. This program was preserved through a 2022-2023 Public Broadcasting Preservation Fellowship.
