This segment from the 2001 Louisiana Legends Gala features a profile and prerecorded speech by Robin Roberts accepting her recognition as a Louisiana Legend. Roberts played college basketball at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond from 1979-1983. She was a sportscaster at ESPN from 1990-2005. Since 2005, she has worked at ABC News as a co-anchor for “Good Morning America.” Since Roberts could not attend the gala, her mother, Lucimarian Roberts, also spoke on her behalf. Host: Jim Nickels
