This episode of the series “Louisiana Legends” from January 9, 1984, features the first part of an interview with Senator Russell Long conducted by Gus Weill. Long, a native of Shreveport, served as a United States Senator from 1948-1987. He is the son of former Governor Huey Long. He discusses: memories of his father and his political career; his involvement in campus politics as a student at LSU, including his role as student body president; his LSU Law School class of 1942; his accomplishments in the Navy during World War II; and his early years in the United States Senate.
