Description
This episode of the series “Louisiana Legends” from January 23, 1984, features an interview with Peter Gennaro conducted by Gus Weill. Gennaro, a native of Metairie, is a famous dancer and a Tony Award-winning choreographer. He discusses: his childhood and Italian parents; his time in India with the military, where he began his dancing career; his job with the Chicago-based San Carlo Opera Company, where he met his wife; his work as a choreographer on “West Side Story” and “Annie”; and his work with the Rockettes, Grace Kelly, Judy Garland, Maurice Chevalier, Perry Como, Fred Astaire, and Ed Sullivan.
