This episode of the series “Louisiana Legends” from October 12, 2018, features an interview with Sybil Morial conducted by Beth Courtney at Morial’s home in New Orleans. Morial is an educator, activist, community leader, and the former First Lady of New Orleans. She discusses: writing her new book, “Witness to Change: From Jim Crow to Political Empowerment”; growing up during segregation; attending Boston University; her friendships with leaders in the Civil Rights movement, including Andrew Young and Martin Luther King, Jr.; her first date with her husband Ernest “Dutch” Morial; her role in his campaigns; and learning more about her family roots.
