A speech by Frank Campbell, Ph.D. before the Baton Rouge Press Club on August 17, 2009. Campbell is the Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Crisis Center Foundation. He discusses: the creation of the Crisis Center in 1970 as a result of several student suicides in 1969; the influence of the center on crisis centers around the world; the creation of the Lost Team, where survivors are trained to go to the location where suicides have taken place; the issues faced by suicide survivors; the benefits of the media providing resources on crisis centers; and the study of suicidology.
