Description
A speech by Dr. Jimmy Guidry before the Baton Rouge Press Club on August 24, 2015. Dr. Guidry is the State Health Officer and the Medical Director for the Department of Health and Hospitals. He discusses: the brain-eating amoeba found in the water systems in St. Bernard Parish, Ascension Parish, and Terrebonne Parish; the use of a sixty-day chlorine burn to clean the water systems; the valuable lessons that they have learned about monitoring the state’s water systems; and the new testing procedures being used to identify the amoeba. Dr. Guidry also answers questions from the press.
