Description

Elizabeth Crisp moderates a debate at the Baton Rouge Press Club on September 25, 2017, between three of the candidates for State Treasurer: former Commissioner of Administration Angele Davis, State Senator Neil Riser, and former State Representative John Schroder. The debate begins with each candidate’s opening statement. Members of the press then ask the candidates questions on the following topics: the most important function of the state treasurer; their expertise in investing; whether they plan to use the position as an opportunity to seek higher office; whether they plan to support the Republican gubernatorial candidate in 2019; their plans for growing the economy; their approach to the state’s debt limit; what programs they would cut from the budget; whether they support the increase in the gasoline tax to fund infrastructure projects; and what they know about the funds related to education. The debate ends with each candidate’s closing statement.
