Description

A speech by Dr. Pearson Cross before the Baton Rouge Press Club on October 14, 2019. Dr. Cross is a professor of political science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a political analyst, and the host of “Bayou to Beltway” on KRVS-FM in Lafayette. He discusses the results of the October 12th statewide primary elections, including: gubernatorial candidate Eddie Risponse making the run-off due to identity politics; the reasons why Governor John Bel Edwards did not win the primary election outright; his view that the November 16th gubernatorial election is a toss-up; the results of the elections for the Louisiana Legislature; and the increase in the number of women running for political office. He also answers questions from the audience.
