Description
The third part of the Huey Long Symposium hosted by Secretary of State Jay Dardenne at the Old State Capitol on August 28, 2010. This part features a speech by Dr. Carl Weiss, Jr., the son of Long’s alleged assassin, Dr. Carl Weiss, Sr. This speech marks the first time in 75 years that a member of the Weiss family has spoken publicly about the events of September 8, 1935. Weiss discusses: his father’s background; his understanding of what happened on the night of September 8, 1935; and why he believes that his father did not kill Huey Long.
