Description
A debate held by the League of Women Voters of Louisiana on October 12, 2011, between the two candidates for Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne and Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser. The candidates were asked questions by four reporters and one college student: Mike Steele of WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge; Hoyt Harris of KATC-TV in Lafayette; college student Analei Seimien; Ed Walsh of KTBS-TV in Shreveport; and Carl Redman of the Baton Rouge Advocate. The candidates were also allowed to ask questions to each other. They answered questions related to following topics: their campaign advertisements; whether the role of Lieutenant Governor should be expanded or abolished; increasing in-state tourism; gaining support from voters outside of southeast Louisiana; what Jindal administration policies they would keep or change if they become Governor; their political endorsements; their favorite Louisiana cultural attractions; promoting regional attractions; supporting higher education; promoting tourism related to the film industry; crime; job creation in the tourism industry; budget cuts to the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism; and the right to privacy for political candidates.
