This segment from the November 9, 1979, episode of “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features an interview with General J. “Lightning Joe” Lawton Collins, a New Orleans native who served as an Army general during World War II and Army Chief of Staff during the Korean War. He discusses his time as a student at LSU, his nephew, astronaut Michael Collins, and his personal impressions of General Dwight D. Eisenhower and General George S. Patton.
