Description

This segment from the May 28, 1982, episode of “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a report on the trip made by Forest Hill residents to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans in order to ask the court to re-open their neighborhood public school. Forest Hill Elementary School was closed in September 1980, as a part of Judge Nauman Scott’s desegregation plan for Rapides Parish. Since the parents wanted to keep their children in a school in Forest Hill, they have been operating a private school at the Forest Hill Baptist Church. Host: Beth George
