Ekings interviews: Dr. Mark Carleton, a history professor at LSU, on the history and corruption of the Louisiana State Lottery Company, which ran from 1869-1894; State Senator Hank Braden on the restrictions placed on local governments in raising revenues and the need for new funding sources; Richard Carey, the director of the Maine State Lottery, on the security features of their lottery tickets; Ken Ward, the executive director of the Louisiana Moral and Civic Foundation, on the reasons his organization opposes the lottery; and Don Bower, the president of Scientific Games, on the research that shows that poor people do not play the lottery.
