Description
This segment from the September 21, 1984, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Robyn Ekings’ report on the strike by the 700 teachers and school employees in St. John the Baptist Parish. Ekings reports that Governor Edwin Edwards urged the teachers and school board to meet, but that the subsequent talks have broken down. She interviews: Louis Holloway, teacher; Charlotte Whitehead of the Louisiana Association of Educators (LAE); Sandra Collins, parent; and State Representative Joseph Accardo.
