Description
This segment from the February 7, 1992, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Jeff Duhe’s report on the success of the Louisiana Lottery at Hebert’s Grocery Store in Vinton due to its location four miles from the Texas border. Duhe reports that Hebert’s is the state’s number one seller of lottery tickets. He interviews: Jane Hebert, store owner; Richard Starkey of Orange, Texas; Micki Kibodeaux of Beaumont, Texas; James Raley of Beaumont; Jerry Quebodeaux of Beaumont; and Orris Davidson of Port Arthur, Texas. Robert Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Michael Carr, the president of the Louisiana Lottery, and State Senator Ken Hollis, the lead author of the lottery bill. They discuss the success of the lottery and the revenue generated for the state.
