Description

This episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” from February 14, 1992, features Jeff Duhe reporting on a wetlands controversy in south Louisiana. He first reports on the United States Army Corps of Engineers sending a cease and desist letter to Wayne Domingue for developing a crawfish farm in St. Martin Parish on land protected by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. He interviews Wayne Domingue and Congressman Billy Tauzin. Duhe then conducts an in-studio interview with Congressman Jimmy Hayes and Craig Bourgeois of the Acadiana chapter of the National Audubon Society. They discuss: the importance of wetlands; Domingue’s story; and their differing views of Section 404.
