This segment from the November 27, 1992, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features the second part of a report on poverty and homelessness in Louisiana. Jeff Duhe first reports on the increase in poverty and the homeless population in Louisiana. He also visits My House, a program to help mothers get off of welfare. He interviews: Dennis Kalob, a sociologist at Loyola University; Dr. Loren Scott, an economist at LSU; Sister Jane Remson, My House organizer; and Lynette Rodgers, Arneska Bentley, and Lisa Creshon, My House residents. Arcie Chapa then reports on Covenant House, a shelter for runaway teenagers in New Orleans. She interviews: Paul Henkels, aftercare counselor; James Sinclair, resident; Phil Boudreaux, the executive director of Covenant House; and Leigha McGuire, resident. Host: Robert Collins
