Description
This segment from the June 17, 1994, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Arcie Chapa’s report on elderly abuse cases in Louisiana through both caregiver neglect and self-neglect. She interviews: Hugh Eley, Elderly Protective Services; Richard Hillhose, self-neglect victim; and Yarva Harrison, Elderly Protective Services. Robert Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Captain Audrey Thibodeaux of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, the state director of the Elderly Crime Victims Assistance Program. She discusses the legislative package aimed at protecting elderly abuse victims in a domestic setting that will be under consideration at the Second 1994 Special Session of the Louisiana Legislature.
