This segment from the November 25, 1994, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Jeff Duhe’s report on the settlement reached in the college desegregation case. He traces the history of the case, including previous comments made by former Attorney General William Guste and John Kennedy, the counsel to former Governor Buddy Roemer. He also interviews Governor Edwin Edwards and Commissioner of Higher Education Sally Clausen. Robert Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Chancellor Marvin Yates of Southern University in Baton Rouge and Chancellor Bud Davis of LSU in Baton Rouge. They discuss the desegregation plan and how both campuses will be working together.
