This segment from the December 23, 1994, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Arcie Chapa’s report on the growing availability of the Internet, the world’s largest computer network, in Louisiana. She interviews: Malcolm McNaylor, LSU Information Technology; Gabriela Segarra, LSU Computing Services; and Dr. S. Sitharama Iyengar, chairman of the LSU Department of Computer Science. Host Robert Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Ronald Hay, the executive director of LSU Computing Services. He discusses: how to access the Internet; the colleges and universities in Louisiana all being connected to the Internet; and the importance of information access.
