This segment from the March 3, 1995, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Arcie Chapa’s report on teen pregnancy in Louisiana. Chapa reports that Louisiana has the second highest rate of teen pregnancy in the United States. She interviews: Barbara Green, counselor at the Office of Women’s Services’ Teen Parent Center; Wanda Montgomery, teen mother; Coretta Robins, teen mother; Dr. Holly Galland, the director of the adolescent clinic at Earl K. Long Hospital and the project and medical director for the Health Care Centers in Public Schools; and Vicki Romero, the president and CEO of Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. Host Robert Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Sue Catchings, the executive director of Health Care Centers in Schools. She discusses the state’s high rate of teen pregnancy and the need for more sex education in schools.
