Description
This segment from the May 26, 1995, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features the first part of Arcie Chapa’s report on the 50 million waste tire backlog in Louisiana. Chapa reports that the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) collects a $2 fee for the proper disposal of old tires, but has only licensed three processors around the state. Her report also touches on the Senate passing a resolution asking the Legislative Auditor and Inspector General to investigate the situation.
