Description
This segment from the January 17, 1997, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Arcie Chapa’s report on the Foster Administration’s plan to move the governance of the state’s Charity Hospital System to the LSU System. She interviews: Cynthia Dupree, the chairwoman of the Louisiana Health Care Authority; Marcus Carson, Louisiana Health Care Campaign; and Larry Dorsey, the administrator of the Charity Hospital in Lafayette. Host Robert Collins then conducts an in-studio interview with Robert Marier, the dean of the LSU Medical School in New Orleans and the new CEO of the Louisiana Health Care Authority. He discusses: the planning process for LSU to take over the governance of the system; LSU’s plans for partnerships with other providers, including the Tulane University Medical School; and his expectation for improved services for consumers.
