This segment from the September 2, 2005, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features an interview with Governor Kathleen Blanco conducted by Eric Paulsen of WWL-TV on August 30, 2005. Governor Blanco discusses the Army Corps of Engineers not dropping sandbags to stop the breach of the two drainage canal levees in New Orleans, her concerns over mass looting, the heartbreaking devastation in the city, the hundreds of people still waiting to be rescued by the Coast Guard, needing help from the federal government because of the scope of the disaster, the immediate need to help people find temporary shelter, her aerial tour of the city, and the lack of communication between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
