Description
This segment from the October 17, 2008, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features WWL Reporter Bill Capo’s report on the work of “Pilots for Patients,” a non-profit organization headquartered in Monroe, Louisiana, which allows private pilots to use their own planes to fly free medical missions for patients with non-emergency medical conditions to visit doctors or hospitals in other cities or states. He talks to Philip Thomas, the president of Pilots for Patients, and pilots Larry Lehmann and Monte Warne about the program. Capo also meets David and Kim Ronquille of Marrero, who were flying to St. Louis, Missouri, for an appointment with a specialist for their two-year-old daughter with cerebral palsy.
