Description
This segment from the March 27, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on the rise in home foreclosures in Baton Rouge and Shreveport due to the 2008 economic downturn. Sanford speaks to Nancy Montoya of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta about the emerging foreclosure “hot spots” in Louisiana, the formation of the Foreclosure Task Force and the steps that homeowners facing foreclosure need to take in order to save their homes. Sanford also talks to homeowner Barry Lawrence about his experience in facing a possible foreclosure. Lastly, Sanford interviews Elsenia Young, a foreclosure prevention counselor, about the importance of homeowners working with counselors because of their better access to the mortgage lending companies.
