Description
This segment from the June 5, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features WWL Reporter Bill Capo’s interviews with Val Marmillion and Juan Pisani of America’s Wetlands during their tour of the Gulf Coast from Florida to Louisiana on a boat named “Storm Rider” in order to highlight the dangers of hurricane season. They discuss: the areas in coastal Mississippi that are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina; the challenges faced in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; the coastal erosion in Louisiana as the largest area of land loss in the world; and the importance of restoring the lost wetlands in order to protect communities from hurricanes.
