This segment from the December 4, 2009, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on the Microenterprise Development Program, a partnership between the Department of Economic Development and the Department of Social Services. Sanford reports that the program targets aspiring entrepreneurs, who have at least one minor child in their household and fall within the federal poverty guidelines. She interviews two of the program’s success stories, Shenikewa Peterson of Flawless Creations Airbrush Makeup and Christina Smith of Sozo Nutritional Health Consulting, about the help they received from the program in developing a business plan and starting their businesses.
