Description
This segment from the February 26, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Dorothy Kendrick’s report on the increasing number of robberies and burglaries across Louisiana. Kendrick interviews Fred McManus, Elaine McManus, Erika McManus, and Makayla McManus, the victims of a home burglary, who discuss the experience of having their home burglarized and how it has changed their outlook on the importance of home security. She also interviews Captain Ricky Klug of the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, who discusses the types of objects that burglars are interested in stealing, the high number of repeat offenders, the requirement for pawn shops to hold items for a period of time before they can sell them, and the importance of documenting your possessions so that you can recover them if they are stolen.
