This segment from the March 19, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features producer Donna LaFleur’s visit to the LSU Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge, the home of the largest single collection of 19th century Louisiana artifacts and historic buildings. LaFleur talks to David Floyd, the Director of the LSU Rural Life Museum, about: the museum’s founder, Steele Burden; the museum’s mission of depicting plantation life away from the big house, including slavery; the origins of the artifacts in the collection; the recently completed visitor’s center; and the community’s involvement with the museum.
