Description
This segment from the June 25, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on seafood safety following the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. She interviews oyster producer Mike Voison of Motivatit Seafood in Houma about the safety of Gulf seafood, the government’s extensive seafood testing program, the recent opening and closing of fishing areas, and high seafood prices. Sanford also talks to shrimp harvester Randy Gibson of Tidelands Seafood in Dulac about his business slow down, shrimp prices, and the abundance of shrimp now available in the open fishing areas.
