Description
This segment from the July 2, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s report on human trafficking, or modern day slavery. Sanford interviews Sister Eugenia Bonetti, an advocate against human trafficking, who discusses the psychological struggle of the victims, the first victim that she met, her network of nuns who seek out the women and children who want to be freed, the threats from the traffickers against her nuns, and the long rescue process. Sanford also interviews Amy Roth of the International Justice Mission, who discusses her organization’s work as an advocate for victims, the global scope of the problem, and her hope that change will happen soon.
