This segment from the August 13, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features Shauna Sanford’s tour of the Hammond Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, a facility responsible for rehabilitating more than 1400 oiled birds from the BP Oil Spill. She talks to Dr. Heidi Stout of Tri State Bird Rescue and Research and Barbara Callahan of International Bird Rescue and Research about the facility, the condition of the birds when they arrive, and the process they use to clean and rehabilitate the birds before returning them to the wild.
