Description
This segment from the August 13, 2010, episode of the series “Louisiana: The State We’re In” features a visit by WWL-TV’s Bill Capo to the hidden collections of the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans. Capo tours the collections with Dr. Greg Lambousy, Diana Buckley, Dr. Tony Lewis, and Katie Hall. Some of the highlights include Louis Armstrong’s first cornet, Huey Long’s hospital room furniture set, the jacket worn by Ernie K. Doe at his last JazzFest performance, the first photograph of New Orleans, and a Newcomb pottery collection. Capo also talks to museum director Sam Rykels and special projects coordinator Jane Irvin about the museum’s upcoming exhibit, “Living with Hurricanes: Katrina and Beyond.” Hosts: Charlie Whinham and Shauna Sanford
